Magnesium for Anxiety: Update

summer flowersI’ve been using myself to field test taking my Magnesium Citrate daily for anxiety relief.

I first wrote about this topic almost a month ago– this is the original post: Magnesium for Anxiety & Stress Relief. I wanted to give you an update and let you know my results…

I have been taking 2 Magnesium Citrate capsules per day- one in the morning and one at at night. Each pill is 200mg.

Nothing else has changed about my life in the past month- no medication changes, no big crises per se. I have been going about business as usual and trying to discern whether or not I can feel anything appreciable that I could attribute to my new Magnesium regimen.

And I can say I definitely do feel better! :)

For one thing, my night time palpitations are gone. I have had these for years- they are scary and also annoying as hell. My doctor never said much about them since my heart is healthy. And I did get some relief from them by starting a gluten free diet. But after a few months, the palpitations came back with a vengeance. I am telling you they are gone. I want to pinch myself because I really almost don’t believe it.

The other thing that I almost didn’t notice- and this is pretty huge for me– IMagnesium Citrate am not freaked out that it’s summer.

Summer is a high anxiety time for me and I have bent your ear about it numerous times here on PanicFreeMe. With the heat, the kids home, being around the neighbors, I am usually a ball of nerves suffering in the house and wishing the summer months away.

This year it is different. And again I stress that everything in my life is business as usual. The only thing that is different is that I am now taking Magnesium.

I really think it did something and normalized some of that low level anxiety I always have in the summer.

So that is my experience. Take it with a grain of salt if you like but I am so happy to have found a link between low magnesium and anxiety. And even better, now I am doing something about it. I do feel very good indeed! :D

If you like to use natural anti anxiety supplements, remedies, or vitamins, I suggest you to look into taking Magnesium Citrate. Since 80% of women in the US are magnesium deficient and don’t even know it- odds are, you could definitely benefit and get some good anxiety relief!

I wish you peace,
Jill G.

    Jill,
I read your last post on magnesium and decided to give it a shot. My anxiety has been under control for the most part, but I have that almost constant uneasiness lurking in the background. I started taking magnesium, and I almost couldn’t believe how much better I felt. Usually, changes in light have a huge impact on me. Now, I notice them but they don’t bother me. I have to admit, I was anticipating this post greatly, to see if this was just a placebo effect or if anyone else had a positive experience too. I’m so glad I signed up for your letter forever ago. It has been one of the greatest tools in overcoming my anxiety. Thank you.

    Hi Jill,

I too have been taking magnesium for sometime now as I had read about it for both anxiety and migraines(which I sufffer from frequently). I have found there is a difference in both so I definitely make sure I take 2-150mg of it everyday. I take mag. Citrate though as that was what I was recommended as it is more readily available for absorption in the body. Thanks for posting your experience with it.

      Hi Kristen,

Good for you- my migraines are much better as well! Yes, you can take magnesium citrate, magnesium glycinate or magnesium chloride. Thank you for sharing your success with taking magnesium- I’m very happy for you! :)
