I have been a big advocate of using yoga as a preventative and treatment for anxiety and stress relief. I would never claim to be some super flexible yogi who can bend into a pretzel, but doing the stretches and poses and combining that with the slow diaphragmatic breathing does feel really, really good. I think yoga is soothing and gentle and wonderful.
So imagine my surprise and delight this morning when I went into my email and saw a recommendation for me straight from good ol’ Amazon. This recommendation is for a DVD called Yoga for Depression and Anxiety. It doesn’t seem to be “just another yoga DVD” either. This DVD has (at the time of this writing) 135 customer reviews, with 111 of these reviews being a full 5 stars. This means an excellent product and excellent customer service.
I posted just the other day how I overcame my gym anxiety step by step. And what I did to actually get in the front door of the gym was head straight to a class for yoga for anxiety control. While I now love going to the gym, there just aren’t that many yoga classed offered. I’m thinking Yoga for Depression and Anxiety will be a great addition to my video library
However… I don’t like to buy a product before actually reading the customer reviews. There seems to be a huge disconnect between the customers that love this product and the ones who were clearly less than amazed.
Here is one very enthusiastic 5 star review:
AWESOME AND INSPIRING WORKOUT
And this is just a partial expert from a one star review:
“Worst Yoga DVD I Own”
“Oh, you have depression because you resent your past, and you have anxiety because you have expectations about your future, now – lets do some yoga!”
So I’m kind of on the fence at this point. I have had the experience of buying something on Amazon with hundreds of 5 star reviews only to be really disappointed with the product. I’m wondering if this would be the case with Yoga for Depression & Anxiety DVD?
I see there is now the option on Amazon to try it on Instant Video for 7 days for $3.99. If anyone is interested, here is the link to that.
Have any of you tried this video? I would be really curious to see if it is all it’s cracked up to be. If it is that good, I will be thrilled to have it. But honestly if it stinks, I don’t want to buy another DVD just to have it laying around. Let me know what you think…
I wish you peace,
Jill G.
