Did anyone catch the Dr. Oz show about Holy Basil for anxiety? He was discussing some natural ayurvedic herbs that are really good for your health. When he talked about Holy Basil benefits– that it helps with anxiety and can keep you calm, I tuned right in.
Up until Dr. Oz’s show, I’d never even heard of Holy Basil. Anxiety supplements sometimes leave me feeling absolutely nothing- this is the case for me with St. John’s Wort. I’ve had success with Rescue Remedy and some other natural supplements, but Holy Basil was way different.
I really liked what Dr. Oz was saying: that Holy Basil benefits could be felt by sipping it as a hot tea. He even said you could sip the Holy Basil anxiety tea all day long! It has no side effects and is completely safe and healthy.
I switched from black coffee to decaf green tea last winter. I got off coffee because of the caffeine and decaf green tea has wonderful health benefits. But hells bells, if I can drink a natural tea that can keep me calm all day long, well, bring it on!
You can chew Holy Basil leaves too but I just can’t see myself doing that, lol 😉
Ayurveda stresses the use of plant-based medicines and treatments. Ayurveda or ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine native to the Indian subcontinent and practiced in other parts of the world as a form of alternative medicine
I am real excited to try Holy Basil. Anxiety is something I work on every day, and I like to have lots of tools in my anxiety busting tool box.
Here is a link for Holy Basil if you’d care to try it too.
I get a real comfort from sipping warm tea throughout the day, especially in winter. Because of Holy Basil benefits, this tea is an ideal way to incorporate relaxation into your daily regimen. It’s completely natural and 100% healthy. And did you hear me? NO side effects! 🙂
Update: I ordered my Holy Basil Tea from Amazon, but haven’t gotten it yet. In my haste I purchased Holy Basil capsules (I went to 4 different stores- it was hard to find!) and sort of made my own tea! I opened a capsule and poured about a quarter of it into my boiling water. It has a nice taste, sort of like basil and cinnamon maybe? Anyways it does feel relaxing, and I actually felt it about half way through my cup of tea. The man at the health food store said he never heard of Holy Basil Tea, but advised to only use a small amount of the crushed herbs in the capsule if I wanted to make tea for myself. – Just wanted to pass this along 🙂
Holy Basil Tea Anxiety Update: It is really nice– fragrant tasting like cinnamon and cloves. It makes me feel mellow, not stoned or that altered feeling you get from Xanax or benzos. So glad I tried this!
Holy Basil Softgel Capsules: I finally found a manufacturer for this on Amazon. When I don’t have time to drink tea and I need to be out the door in a hurry, it’s what I now take instead of an extra Xanax. It’s very nice to have something that helps me that is natural, not dangerous, and non addicting.
Two words: Holy Basil! I’d been suffering from stress-induced anxiety and had been considering treatment with an anti-depressant as a last resort…but I was not looking forward to the inevitable and uncomfortable adjustment period, especially over the holidays. My longtime acupuncturist had me try one of these capsules at my appointment last week — I allowed the capsule to break in my mouth, and felt the subtle calming, uplifting effects almost immediately. This is not to say that it will work for everyone with anxiety or depression disorders…but it’s definitely helping me through a difficult time. I cannot vouch for other manufacturers of this item; I do know New Chapter to be a reputable company offering high-quality products.
Who would have thought Holy Basil had so many benefits for anxiety? I’m a huge fan now, and so glad I learned about this. Thank you Dr. Oz! 🙂
I wish you peace,
